Harold Brown suffered a heart attack at the age of eighteen due to his heavy consumption of animal products. As a cattle farmer he didn't realize that his livelihood could cause so much damage. His extended family of farmers, the local community, youth organizations and TV were telling him one thing: Animal products are good. Harold truly believed he was doing good work, living a good life and being a good person. For the better part of his life he was not a conscious participant in what was happening. But deep down he felt uncomfortable with the things he was expected to do: Castrating calves, killing rabbits with his bare hands, and beating cows onto trailers. Until the day a doctor told him to expect bypass surgery by the age of 35. In an attempt to save his life, Harold embarked on a journey into veganism. Along the way he discovered the true meaning of compassion and found an new ethical foundation upon which to live his life. Harold's story is just one of the sixty three inspirational personal stories from some of the most eloquent, passionate and intellectually progressive voices in today's Animal Rights movement. Turning Points in Compassion will take you on a journey that will make you challenge the belief that our relationships with animals are set in stone. - Learn why farmers are giving up farming because of the damage they are doing. - Hear from the doctors who say your meat based diet is killing you. - Discover inspiring tales of people who have put their lives on hold to save animals in need. - See how you can eat your way to a healthier and more ethical life, for your whole family. - Meet the people fighting behind the scenes for animal rights. - Challenge your beliefs on food and animal welfare. Each story is a powerful testimony to the capacity of individuals to transform the worldview inherited from previous generations. As a result, new paradigms replace the old. Already awarded Vegan of the Year in the category of Outstanding Creative, Turning Points in Compassion reveals a movement that will benefit ourselves, the animals and the planet. Without question, you will not be left unchallenged by this book. "A remarkable, inspirational exploration of plant-based eating."-G.A. PhD, Founder and Director, The Kerulos Center. All profits from sales are donated to animal sanctuaries and rescue groups.
