To meet the case of students who begin the study of the Mechanics of Fluids with not more than an elementary knowledge of the Mechanics of Solids, chapters on Units and on the Principles of Statics precede the consideration of the general problems of żuid pressure. For the same reason short discussions of Uniform Circular Motion and of Harmonic Motion are also included in the book. The method of integration has been explained without the use of the notation of the Integral Calculus, and has been applied to the solution of such problems as those of finding moments of inertia, centres of pressure, work done by a variable force, &c.
