This edited volume stems from conversations held with seasoned Christian scholars who have spent a good portion of their academic lives forming graduate students within their respective disciplines. One result of these conversations was a new awareness that to date, there are surprisingly few resources that focus on the unique role of graduate students within Christian higher education. Three core questions guided these conversations and the resulting chapters: How does the Christian life of faith and stewardship guide the way in which scholarship is pursue in the discipline? How does faith and commitment to cultivate the next generation of stewards affect pedagogical practices? If we conceive of stewardship as the task of both the academy and the church, then what is the academy's relationship to the church and what is the church's relationship to the academy? The result of this examination is a coherent and thematic narrative that will appeal to graduate students and new faculty seeking to enter the academy with a clear sense of purpose and responsibility.
