This graduate book focuses on finding solutions for building sustainable global market for Russian Contemporary Art. It traces Russian art through its various historic movements - from Soviet Era art, including such famous events, as Unofficial Art exhibition at the Manege in Moscow in the 1960's, the Bulldozer Exhibition, which became the catalyst for discovering the existence of Unofficial Art by the West. The movement of Russian Non-conformist is then analyzed - it commonly refers to artwork, produced in the former Soviet Union outside of the rubric of Socialist Realism, during the period between 1953 (Joseph Stalin s death) until 1986 - the year when Mihail Gorbachev announced a new reformative party course, known as perestroika. And finally, it leads to the discussion of today's contemporary art in Russia and how to build an infrastructure, which will help create a sustainable global market for Russian Contemporary Art.
