Female labor migration in Ethiopia since the 1990s has increased immensely. The majority of the migration is taking place to the Middle East with higher frequency to three countries Saudi Arabia, Lebanon and Dubai. The migrants driven mainly by the pressing poverty and hoping for better life risk all they have to reach their selected point of destination. Some fulfill their dreams, many fail even to get half way to what they set out to get. The majorities of the female migrants are engaged in low skill jobs such as domestic work or work like sex trade. The book tries to argue that the labor migration is a necessary evil at this point time using the theoretical approach of balanced growth theory and substantiate using empirical data. The work also gives highlight to the socio-economic aspects of the labor migrants, the legal frameworks and political will that exists in the point of origin and destination regarding migrant workers. The book has particularly taken female migrants workers for its analysis to study their situation, challenges and achievements.
