Illustra poi la 'natura scientifica' della musica, la sua definizione e scansione temporale, presentando infine, con particolare riferimento alla terminologia usata da Kircher, una "storia della musica" sospesa tra rivelazione biblica e tradizione pitagorico-platonica, così che l'arte del comporre si fa luogo d'incontro tra Antichi e Moderni.
