Klopstock at the Border of the Epochs§Including a Klopstock Bibliography 1972-1992 by Helmut Riege§(Text in German)§The first part of the volume contains the result of an international symposium organized by the Herzog August Library in Wolfenbüttel, the first academic conference to be held on Klopstock since 1974. Using the lyric poetry, Klopstock's Messias and his relations with contemporary literature, the papers use Klopstock's concept of epochs to confirm his supreme importance for the 18th century.§The second part of the book contains the continuation of the Klopstock Bibliography, started in 1975 as part of the Hamburg edition of Klopstock's work; the bibliography presents an urgently needed aid to research into Klopstock.
