Serving as a core text to help students and their prospective clients take control of their finances, this book will help them create sustainable, long term financial behavioral change, using a strengths-based, experiential approach. Covering basics such as budgeting, investing, creating a personal savings and money plan, financial stability, retirement and estate planning, and long term insurance, it then moves into integrating these basics into social work education for individuals and couples. Finally, the last two chapters are focused on financial therapy and understanding the current economic climate. The book focuses on first helping students understand their financial climate and helping them truly understand their financial emotions and behaviors so they can help their clients. It takes a interactive, introspective, multidisciplinary approach to helping students truly understand their thoughts, feelings, history and attitudes about money. The book will be filled with experiential exercises, sidebars, vignettes and motivational quotes. It will also contain a glossary and list of suggested readings at the end of each chapter.
