Contemporary Galician Culture in a Global Context

In transculturation, cultures nurture each other but also change each other, through a dynamic of transformation. Galicia is a prime area of study for this transcultural dynamic. Contemporary Galician Culture in a Global Context: Movable Identities argues that migrations, population flows and complex interactions between center and periphery characterize the entwined developments of Galician and Spanish national identities. Through examining questions of presence and absence, territoriality and diaspora, longing and belonging, the author argues that Galicia and Spain are essential to understanding transculturation in a global context.
