Née en 1939 à Rabat, Bérengère Dautun, premier prix du Conservatoire national d'art dramatique de Paris, intègre la Comédie Française en 1964. Elle y interprétera les grands textes du répertoire (Feydeau, Musset, Molière, Brecht, Ionesco, Giraudoux...), jouant aussi dans quelque trente films. Sociétaire de la Comédie Française de 1972 à 1997, elle monte ensuite sa propre compagnie, en 2009. Elle devient directrice du Studio Hébertot en 2020. Célèbre pour avoir réalisé la première transplantation cardiaque en Europe (1968), Christian Cabrol lui est présenté en 1986. Elle a 47 ans, lui 60 ; ils se marient en 1998.
