In der Arbeit wird das Konzept eines Linearmotors für einen oberleitungslosen Betriebs untersucht. Ausgewählt wird hierzu ein asynchroner Langstatorlinearmotor ohne Verstelleinrichtung. Der große Luftspalt ist die größte Herausforderung. Zuerst werden die Einflüsse des großen Luftspalts analytisch untersucht. Anschließend wird der Linearmotor mit der FE Methode für den Einsatz als Straßenbahnantrieb ausgelegt. Eine Validierung der Simulationsmodelle erfolgt mit Hilfe eines Demonstrators.
