Vehicular Ad hoc NETworks (VANETs) haben das Potenzial, die Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr erheblich zu verbessern und den Verkehr drastisch zu regulieren. Sicherheit und Datenschutz sind zwei wichtige Anliegen in VANETs. Viele Methoden zur Wahrung der Privatsphäre in VANETs sind jedoch anfällig für Sybil-Angriffe. Der Sybil-Angreifer gibt sich als mehrere gutartige Fahrzeuge aus, um einen unverhältnismäßig großen Einfluss zu erlangen. Die konventionellen Pseudonym-Generierungsverfahren bewahren die Privatsphäre und erleichtern auch die Identifizierung von Sybil-Angreifern. Um den Sybil-Angriff unter Wahrung des Datenschutzes zu erkennen, schlägt diese Forschungsarbeit drei Arten von Verteidigungsmechanismen vor: Privacy through Anonymous Beacon (PLPAB), Sybil Attack Resistant Location Privacy (SARLP) und SYstem for detecting misBehavIng vehicLes with loCAtion Privacy (SYBIL-CAP).
